Demand Responsive Transit (Drt) : Just a Recent Niche Or A Future Revolution?

Abstract

Like many sectors the Public Transport was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic resulting in lower ridership and creating the challenge of gaining back the passenger’s trust. In the UAE, in particular, parallel to the Health and Safety measures taken by the Authorities and Operators with the traditional public bus networks, created opportunity of a new service type apparition offering shared on-demand services. This study includes a brief description of global on-demand services, the challenges and perspectives of the model and its integration possibilities to existing Public Transport urban networks.
