Abstract

Transportation is the largest contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions. However, alternative-fuel powered vehicles can reduce pollutions and transportation cost as well. The focus of this study is on electric vehicles (EV) and particularly on one class of combinatorial problems: Electric vehicle routing problem (EVRP). The mathematical model for EVRP is presented, its variants are discussed and industry implications of EV are elaborated with special focus on battery-related issues, such as price, charging mechanisms and lifespan.
